Professional Network Guidelines

1. About the Network

The MedLabTech Academy Professional Network is a professional community for educators, clinicians, laboratory specialists, and healthcare leaders who share an interest in advancing standards in laboratory and allied health education.
The Network exists to do three things: to give members a place to belong among respected peers, to give them a place to connect and contribute, and to recognise them for the professional contributions they make. Membership is built on standing and contribution rather than on commercial activity. Where compensation applies, it is limited and secondary, as described in Section 6.

2. Membership

Membership is by application and approval. Applications are reviewed individually by the Academy. Approval is based on professional background, relevance to the Academy's fields, and alignment with the Network's purpose and values.
Approved members receive a Network role (Section 3), access to the private Members' Room, recognition appropriate to their contributions, and the option to be featured publicly with their consent (Section 7).
Membership carries no fee and no obligation. Members are not required to recommend programmes, contribute content, or maintain any level of activity. Members may step away or request removal at any time.

3. Member Roles

Every member holds one of four roles. The roles describe the nature of a member's contribution. They are recognition titles, not ranks, and all members are valued equally regardless of role.
Professional Advisor. A member who lends professional credibility and guidance, drawing on senior clinical, laboratory, or academic standing.
Faculty Contributor. A member who voluntarily shares educational insight, professional experience, or subject expertise within the Professional Network. This recognition role does not, by itself, represent a paid course-development or instructional assignment.
Strategic Collaborator. A member who works with the Academy on partnerships, institutional relationships, or programme development.
Academy Ambassador. A member who represents and introduces the Academy within their professional community.
Roles may evolve over time as a member's involvement changes. A change in role is made by mutual agreement.

4. The Community

The Network includes two community spaces hosted on the Academy platform.
The Members' Room is private and open only to approved members. It is a space to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and help shape the direction of the Network. Access is granted on approval.
Ask the Professional Network is a public space where students and learners may ask professional and educational questions, and where members may share their expertise. This space is for professional and educational discussion. It is not a venue for personal medical advice, and members should not offer diagnosis or treatment guidance to individuals.

5. Community Conduct

The Network depends on a tone of professionalism and mutual respect. Members are asked to engage courteously, represent their credentials and experience accurately, respect the confidentiality of discussions held in the private room, and keep contributions relevant and constructive.
The Academy may moderate the community spaces, edit or remove content that is inappropriate or inaccurate, and adjust or withdraw membership when conduct is inconsistent with these Guidelines.

6. Recognition and Compensation

The Professional Network is built primarily on professional recognition, connection, and voluntary contribution. Membership itself is unpaid, and members are not compensated merely for holding a Network role or participating in the Network’s community spaces.

Members who successfully recommend an eligible Academy programme may receive referral compensation in accordance with the Academy’s affiliate terms. Eligibility, tracking, payment, refunds, and other applicable conditions are governed by those terms.

From time to time, the Academy may separately invite a qualified member to undertake a defined professional assignment, such as delivering a seminar or webinar, developing a course, or serving as an instructor. These assignments are separate from ordinary Professional Network membership and may be compensated under an individual written agreement established before the work begins.

Completing an Academy course and voluntarily providing feedback, a course evaluation, informal suggestions, or a testimonial does not constitute a paid professional assignment. Testimonials and learner feedback are voluntary and are used or published only with the individual’s consent.

No paid work, compensation, or revenue-sharing arrangement is created or guaranteed through Professional Network membership alone. An activity is considered paid professional work only when the Academy assigns it in writing and the scope, responsibilities, and compensation are agreed upon before the work begins.

7. Featuring Member Contributions

The Academy may wish to feature a member's work or profile, whether inside the community, in communications to the Academy's learners, or externally on the Academy website and professional channels such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
Featuring a member is always based on consent. Members provide a general consent at the time they join, and the Academy seeks a specific confirmation from the member before any external feature. The Academy commits to accurate attribution, to reviewing featured work for quality, and to respecting the wishes of members who prefer to remain private. A member may decline any feature and may withdraw consent for future features at any time.

8. Changes to These Guidelines

The Academy may update these Guidelines as the Network develops. Material changes will be communicated to members. Continued membership following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Guidelines.
